Police say a car caught fire on Monday afternoon while traveling southbound on Interstate-89 in Colchester.

Vermont State Police troopers responded to the scene and found the 1999 Toyota Camry fully engulfed in fire, according to a press release.

The operator, 31-year-old Lemi B. Joyner of Northfield, was able to exit the vehicle. Troopers say the car had logged more than 333,000 miles.

St. Michael’s Rescue assisted Colchester Fire at the scene, the release said. Traffic was limited to one lane for about an hour while the fire was extinguished and the car was removed.
