The Champlain Valley Exposition (CVE) has said that staff is operating as if the 2021 Champlain Valley Fair will occur in late August, but it’s also announced that it will not be holding one of its previously scheduled and headlining events.

The Darius Rucker concert, slated for Aug. 27 at the expo’s grandstand, has been postponed. CVE said it is hoping to rebook Rucker for 2022; all tickets purchased for this upcoming summer’s date will be honored if that is arranged, or they will be refunded at a later time. Fans can also request sooner refunds by June 30 at etix.com/ticket/online/help2.jsp.

“With the uncertainty that surrounds us all, CVE recognizes the idea of a packed grandstand in 2021 is unlikely due to almost certain social distancing requirements,” read a statement from the expo.

CVE said it is working on a plan to ensure activity does occur in the grandstand and that it is looking forward to making another announcement in the coming months.

On the fair itself, the CVE statement only said, “The safety of our fairgoers, volunteers and staff is paramount. If the 99th Champlain Valley Fair does occur, all state, federal, and CDC guidelines will be followed.”
