The Essex Police Department (EPD) announced Tuesday that it made an arrest of a Colchester man following a brief pursuit Monday night.
EPD said officers responded to a reported road rage incident on Pearl Street at 6:20 p.m. on April 19. The operator, identified as Brandon Clough, 40, of Colchester, was located near the Five Corners and then led authorities on a short motor vehicle chase before exiting his vehicle.
Police say Clough was attempting to enter a store to purchase alcohol when they made contact with him. He was then taken into custody.
According to EPD, witnesses and victims told authorities that Clough had intentionally rammed an occupied vehicle with his own earlier before leaving the scene. Police say he had also been involved in crashes in Colchester and Winooski and fled the scene from those as well.
Clough was lodged at the Northwest Regional Correctional Facility on $2,500 for the charges of driving under the influence—refusal, attempting to elude a police officer, careless and negligent operation, aggravated assault, and unlawful mischief.
