Mount Rushmore

With the third Monday of February just around the weekend, so is another Presidents’ Day.

While it is a federal holiday, some services and businesses do remain open. And while some school districts around the country plan February vacations to coincide with Presidents’ Day, others opt for that recess of academic instruction to occur the following week -- such as the Colchester School District (CSD). CSD buildings are scheduled to be open on Monday.

Here are some services that will not be open Monday, Feb. 15.

The Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD) drop-off centers and administrative office will be closed. However, Green Mountain Compost in Williston will be open for commercial drop off only. The CSWD Materials Recovery Facility in Williston will also be on its regular schedule.

United State Postal Service employees across Vermont will pause on Monday to celebrate Presidents’ Day. Retail offices will be closed and there will be no collection or street delivery of mail except for guaranteed overnight parcels. Full retail and delivery operations will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Banks and credit unions are closed, as are stock markets. Most federal, state, and local governmental offices, services, and libraries are not open -- including those for the Town of Colchester.
