Colchester Stock: Police Cruiser1

COLCHESTER —  With the arrival of unseasonably warm weather, CPD would like to remind all pet owners to please leave their companions at home instead of locked in a vehicle, even for a short period of time. In just 10 minutes, the interior of a vehicle will rise to 99°F with an outside temperature of 80°F. Police will force open a vehicle if an animal is found in distress and may issue tickets or a court citation if warranted.

CPD responded to 474 calls for service over the past two weeks.

Of the department's 59 traffic stops, CPD officers issued 48 warnings and 11 tickets for civil violations. Nine boat operators were given warnings for marine related-violations. Eleven individuals were issued citations to appear in Vermont Superior Court in Burlington for 13 criminal offenses.
