Colchester Stock: Police Cruiser1

This report covers four weeks instead of the usual two. Summer is in full swing and Colchester Police's marine unit and community service officers are staying busy.

Corporal Stephen Gutierrez is in his third summer as the Harbormaster for the department’s marine unit. Gutierrez is assigned full-time to patrol the waters of Malletts Bay, the broad lake of Lake Champlain that borders Colchester and the navigable waters of the Winooski and Lamoille Rivers.

Each summer CPD hires two civilians to work as community service officers. They patrol Colchester’s recreational paths and areas on bikes and are the weekend attendants at the Malletts Bay Fishing Access. This year, Lucas McClanahan is returning for his second year. He is a 2019 CHS graduate and attends Keene State College. Bailey Olson started his duties this year and also graduated from CHS in 2019. He attends Endicott College.

CPD responded to 906 calls for service over the past four weeks.
