The Colchester High School football team kicked off its season with a 40-6 loss to Essex High School under the lights last Friday, Sept. 2.

The Lakers pulled off a hook-and-ladder play in the first quarter, spurring memories of Colchester’s dramatic season opening win against Essex last fall. Yet the Lakers struggled from there, failing to score over the next three quarters.

Up next, the Lakers will host Hartford at 7 p.m. on Friday.
