The Colchester girls soccer team snagged a pair of wins last week, including a come-from-behind victory over BFA.-St. Albans.

Trailing 1-0 late into the Oct. 3 contest, Colchester finally found a spark behind an Ani McMannon cross that Brooke Booska buried with 14 minutes to play.

After back-and-forth play allowed each team a chance to pull ahead, goalkeeper Gabbie Gosselin kept the Lakers alive with a diving save to block a penalty just over five minutes left in the game.

Ninety seconds later, Autumn Hathaway drove a cross to the far post, where Jess Laquerre waited for the easy header to take the lead. Laquerre then set up Fiona Doherty just over a minute later, and the Lakers held on for the win.

Colchester then spoiled Essex’s homecoming with a 3-1 win last Friday.

Ranked third in Division-I by the Vermont Principals’ Association, the Lakers have just four games left before playoffs and sit with an 8-1-1 record riding a five-game winning streak.
