On the 4th of July last week, the annual Colchester 4th of July Parade took over Blakely Drive, flooding the street with red, white, and blue.

Kids and adults following the Vermont Children’s Hospital float skipped across the road handing out balloons, ladies from the Jazzercise Colchester Fitness Center pumped their arms and kicked high under the bright sun, and the town’s fire engines rung their sirens in celebration of the holiday.

Even Lady Liberty herself joined the parade, waving from a lawn chair on the back of a pickup truck draped in flags.
