COLCHESTER – Deborah Susan Gibson Dell, 58, entered the presence of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 19, 2017, after a 17-year battle with breast cancer. Debbie was able to spend her last days at home, being loved on by her family and her Christ Memorial Church family and being supported by the VNA Palliative Care and Hospice team.
Debbie was born June 6, 1959, in San Diego, Calif., to Claude E. Gibson III and the late Mary Elisabeth Mattison Gibson. She graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in biology and an M.S. in materials engineering. After working at Helen Hayes Hospital in New York doing bone research, she gladly embraced being a stay-at-home and home schooling mom to her five children. She was an active member of Christ Memorial Church for the past 20 years, especially enjoying serving in women’s ministries.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 35 years, Timothy Dell, of Colchester, and by her five children: Elisabeth Koch and her husband, Dan, and son, Josiah; Rebecca Dell; Hannah Swavely and her husband, Nathan; Leah Dell, and Jacob Dell. She is also survived by her father, Claude E. Gibson III, and his wife, Marion; her three siblings Amy Gibson, David Gibson and Andrew Gibson and their spouses, along with aunts Brenda Gibson and Susan Fraser and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours were held Friday, Nov. 24, at Ready Mountain View Chapel in Essex Jct. A memorial service and funeral was held at Christ Memorial in Williston on Saturday, Nov. 25. Interment will be private at the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin, N.Y.
