Colchester Police say a man’s body was recovered from Malletts Bay this morning four hours after a report of an overturned vessel in the water.

Officials responded to Malletts Bay just after 9 a.m. Saturday, May 13 off Brickyard Road in Colchester, according to a press release from CPD.

Local residents told police they heard people yelling and were able to pull two men from the water, the release said. Those two men told authorities there was a third man still in the bay, according to police.

Members of Colchester Technical Rescue, Malletts Bay Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Vermont State Police dive team initiated a subsequent search.

The man’s body was located and recovered four hours later. Police are withholding his name until next of kin are notified. Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call CPD at 264-5555.
