Parks and Recreation

Glen Cuttitta, director

As we kick off March, Parks & Recreation is busy with many upcoming programs and preparing for summer programs, camps and special events! Please remember most programs require pre-registration so we can ensure enough supplies and interest to run the class. Here are some things to keep an eye out for:

Youth Lacrosse: Registration is open for grades 3 – 8; teams are offered for both boys and girls. The season starts the week of March 26, so be sure to get your form in so you can start during the first week of practices! More details at http://colchestervt.gov/recreation/lax.

Teen Open Gym (Grades 6 – 12): Come shoot hoops on Tuesday nights at the Colchester Middle School, 7– 9 p.m. This free program runs until March 20.

AARP Smart Driver Course (Ages 55+): This class covers defensive driving and the normal changes associated with aging that are factors in safe vehicle operation. It’s a good refresher course for adults 55+ and some insurance plans offer a discount for attending an AARP Driver Safety course like this! Non-AARP members welcome too. Monday, March 19, noon – 4:30 p.m. at the Bayside Activity Center. $15/AARP members and $20/non-members.

Wacky Science (Ages 8 – 11): Come for an afternoon of slime, elephant toothpaste and more! We’ll do science experiments and learn about chemical reactions and the scientific way to describe them. Saturday, April 21, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the Bayside Activity Center. $35/residents.

Park Pavilion Rentals: Summer reservations are now open for the Bayside or Airport Park pavilions. Request form and user fees are due at time of reservation; proof of residency is required. For more information and form visit http://bit.ly/2I414y4.
