Vermont State Police say they stopped a Colchester man for speeding on Interstate 91 and found there was an active warrant issued for his arrest.

Troopers identified the operator as Thomas E. Briere, 32, while conducting a traffic stop just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, according to a press release.

Further investigation found Briere’s license was criminally suspended in Vermont and he had an active arrest warrant issued in Windsor County, police said.

Briere was arrested and issued a citation before being transported to Southern State Correctional Facility for his arrest warrant, according to the release. Bail was set at $500.

Briere is scheduled to appear in Windsor Superior Court – Criminal Division on September 19 to  answer the DLS citation, police said.
