Police urge vigilance after burglaries in Malletts Bay area

Colchester police are urging vigilance after a string of burglaries in the Malletts Bay area, a news release said Wednesday.

Police say five homes on Macrae Road, Porters Point Road, Diane Lane, Heineberg Drive and Timerberlake Drive have been burglarized since August 29.

In each case, the suspect forcefully entered the unoccupied residences during the day and took jewelry and other valuables.

Police ask the community to secure homes and close and lock all windows — even on the second floor, and especially on the secluded sides of a house.

Residents should report any suspicious people or vehicles in their neighborhoods to police, and anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call 264-5555.
