Police: Distracted driving leads to rollover on I-89

Police cited distracted driving as a contributing factor in a Colchester car crash on Monday night.

Vermont State Police responded to a report of a rollover on Interstate 89 around 9:30 p.m. May 29, a press release said. There, troopers found Matthew Sherman, 37, of Milton lost control of his Chevy Malibu and traveled off the west side of the highway before rolling.

Sherman was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor non-incapacitating injuries, police said. His car was totaled.

Colchester Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene, and police issued Sherman a $220, three-point ticket for failing to maintain control of his vehicle. Neither speed nor impairment were factors in the crash, police noted.
