The Colchester boys basketball squad stopped a two-game skid in dramatic fashion after a Stephen Emmons’ bucket in double overtime catapulted the Lakers toward their seventh win of the season, downing North Country 57-55 on Monday.
The Lakers fell behind early, heading into halftime with a 27-20 defecit. They’d find a spark in the third, however, mounting a 13-point run to take the lead.
After a thrilling fourth quarter and overtime period, Emmons hit a floater to take the lead with mere seconds remaining.
Matt Hesford led the Lakers with 14 points, followed by Shane Grant’s 13, Thomas Meadow’s 13 and Thomas Vesosky’s 10.
The win helped Colchester get back to .500 on the season after a tough stretch to end January, dropping three of the previous four games, the final two of which came at home.
They’ll now have a pair of home games, starting with Burlington at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Then, they’ll host Mt. Mansfield next Monday before hitting the road on February 16 to take on Rice.
