At the biggest and most-competitive meet of the year, Desmond ran career-best times in three straight races at the Essex Invitational/New England Qualifier on May 26, coming within 12-hundredths of a second of earning a spot in the New England Championships in the 100-meter hurdles. Desmond began her day with a new best time in the 100 (17.34) to finish seventh in the preliminary heats and advance to the finals, where she bettered her hour-old previous mark with a 17.25 to take seventh and barely miss a trip to Durham, N.H. In the 300, Desmond knocked a full second off her 11-day old previous best, finishing ninth in 51.34.
